Bill Roggensack of Volant Products

Since 2001, Bill has served as Volant’s President and Chief Executive Officer. He and a small group of colleagues joined forces to found Noetic in 1998, and subsequently, Volant in 2001. In his 13 years serving as President of Volant, he has used strong communication skills to help build a team-first culture, and a first-rate staff that is ready to take on challenges presented by the oil and gas industry. Since Volant’s inception, he has managed rapid technology commercialization and steady double-digit growth. Bill was intimately involved in the planning, design and construction of Volant’s new manufacturing facility. Before joining Noetic, Bill served as Vice President of C-FER Technologies Inc. for 11 years. He spent the first 17 years of his career as a geotechnical consultant working primarily on hydrocarbon and mineral resource development projects in Arctic Canada, Alaska and overseas. Bill has authored numerous technical papers, and has been recognized for his service to several professional organizations including APEGA, CGS, SPE, NRC and ASCE.

Since stepping down as Volant’s President in mid-2013 as part of an ongoing succession plan, Bill has been able to focus on his role as CEO. He has taken a step back from the day-to-day operations, and shifted his energies toward strategic direction of the business. He continues to provide corporate oversight and makes himself available to mentor Volant’s management team.

Dan became President of Volant in 2013. Previously, Dan held the position of Vice President, Marketing and Sales where he built up Volant’s sales team. Prior to that he initiated Volant’s field services business as General Manager, Tubular Services where he focused on delivering value to customers through novel strategies that enabled rapid growth of this operating unit.

Dan is a collaborative, innovative and technically refined leader. He brings a strong focus on people and a broad engineering background in mechanical design, tubular connections and well construction. Dan’s high-level grasp of key principles enables him to envision creative solutions. His business experience has been focused on customer satisfaction and ensuring they succeed, often by doing more with less.

Reporting to the President, Greg oversees company operations, quality and safety to ensure production efficiency and cost-effective management of resources.  He provides leadership and vision to the operational team by contributing to the development and promotion of a strategic plan to advance the company’s mission and objectives.  Greg provides oversight to all operational functions of Field Services, Delivery and Manufacturing while guiding operations interactions with Marketing and Sales, Engineering and Corporate Services.

Greg joined Volant in 2014 after a lengthy and distinguished career in senior management positions within the structural steel and consulting engineering industries.  He brings to Volant his extensive experience in technical and business leadership and the management of manufacturing processes in a highly competitive market sector.

Maurice has served as Vice President, Technology since Volant’s inception in 2001. He has been an essential creative driving force for Volant, and is listed as lead inventor for the company’s various product lines. His consulting career has included conceptual and detailed design of novel downhole tools and investigations of the influence that makeup and manufacturing quality control issues have on tubular connection systems. Maurice has acquired an unusual level of expertise in the creation and management of intellectual property. He has also developed a deep knowledge of the Canadian Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SRED) Program and the significant role it can play in the risk intensive environment of product development for the energy industry. He continues to be deeply engaged with all aspects of Volant’s R&D and product development endeavors, injecting both creative input and intense mentoring. This will ensure Volant’s next generation of engineering talent continues to see innovation as the high value that derives from first-principles thinking.

Prior to his role as a founder of Noetic Engineering and Volant Products, Maurice held several positions of increasing responsibility during 13 years with C-FER Technologies. He established and managed an investigative engineering group within the drilling and production technology department, and was intimately involved in the design of a world-class laboratory facility. Maurice spent the first six years of his engineering career in oilfield wireline operations, data acquisition and log interpretation with Schlumberger’s Canadian and Middle East divisions.

Reporting to the President, Dan is responsible for the operation of Volant’s consulting engineering subsidiary, Noetic Engineering 2008 Inc., and for synchronizing Noetic’s practice with Volant’s broad mission to deliver highly effective equipment and services. From 2013 to 2016 he served as Volant’s Director, Engineering, and has been Noetic’s General Manager for nine years. In his current role he is tasked with growing and leading Noetic’s team in its mission to reach beyond established engineering practices to advance well construction, integrity, and production, while enhancing Volant’s capacity for product development and customer support in these areas. Dan has a unique perspective on industry needs based on his 20 years of broad experience as a consultant in drilling and completions and more than 15 years providing analytic and design support to many of Volant’s product development initiatives. His technical skill set is based on the application of numerical modelling and physical testing to non-linear engineering problems in support of practical design solutions. This technical depth complements both his managerial strength and his passion to engage with industry in finding solutions to difficult technical challenges.

Brad joined Volant in 2014 after spending nearly 12 years with National Oilwell Varco where he established proven track records in manufacturing plant management, product business management and sales leadership. As a member of Volant’s team of business leaders, Brad’s responsibilities include managing global sales and marketing operations as well as strategic planning initiatives with a keen focus on business development and providing effective solutions to customer challenges.

Brad is a proven leader with strong business acumen, success in business strategy, effective team development and exceptional customer relationship skills. He brings with him a deep technical background that includes a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Alberta and experience in Technology Commercialization through the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas in Austin.

Reporting to the President, Isaac is primarily responsible for the strategic and profitable growth of all Volant Product lines. He has worked with Volant since October of 2005, starting off with shop floor manufacturing duties while still in school and assuming the role of Assembly Manager upon his graduation from the Engineering program at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Isaac has assumed increased responsibilities in-step with Volant’s growth, expanding to Director, Delivery in 2014 where he managed the assembly, delivery, customer service and training groups. In April 2016, Isaac stepped into the role of the Director, Product Line Management and is highly focused on ensuring cross departmental coordination of all product development efforts.

Isaac has a strong work ethic, shown through his demonstrated commitment to product excellence and a deep commitment to customer satisfaction. His strong business, market and technical expertise aligns well with his current role. This includes helping to prioritize Product Development resources, coordinating with Product Marketing activities, and ensuring that the short- to mid-range product development roadmap ties into the overall Product Strategy all while keeping the customer needs at the forefront.
