Inspection & Maintenance

We provide thorough inspection and maintenance for all our products to ensure they will perform as intended and expected. Damages resulting from equipment issues due to an insufficient service plan or unapproved replacement parts can result in durability, reliability and safety issues, as well as lost productivity.

To achieve consistent top-tier equipment reliability, a solid plan and disciplined execution is required. For instance, Volant CRTi® and CRTe® casing running tools with TAWG® wedge grip are designed and built to last, but critical load bearing components will eventually wear down. Properly servicing all tools in accordance to the recommended intervals specified in the Volant Product Manuals and with only Volant manufactured or approved replacement parts and pull test fixturing, will ensure all parts are components are functioning correctly.

Category 3 Inspection

  • Recommended every 6 months.
  • Category 3 Inspection of your tool as per the Volant Casing Running Tool product manual.
  • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) of certain Primary Load-carrying Components (PLCs) by qualified Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspectors.

Category 4 Inspection

  • Recommended annually.
  • Category 4 Inspection of your tool as per the Volant Casing Running Tool product manual.
  • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) of all Primary Load-carrying Components (PLCs) by qualified Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspectors.
  • Volant will provide a report detailing component assessment categorizing the condition of major components as either Acceptable, Monitor Condition, or Repair/Replace.
  • Volant offers in-depth training at client facilities on how to properly conduct Category 4 Inspections.

Primary Load-carrying Components (PLCs) Proof Load Test

  • Recommended every 5 years (Volant recommends completing and passing a Category 4 Inspection prior to performing this load test.)
  • Proof load testing to 1.5x rated hoist load capacity of certain Primary Load-carrying Components (PLCs.)
  • Testing performed on Volant’s in-house custom-designed 5-million-pound load frame followed by necessary post-test NDT.
  • Volant will provide all associated reports and certificates upon completion.

Category 5 Inspection

  • Recommended every 5 years.
  • Category 5 Inspection of your tool as per the Volant Casing Running Tool product manual.
  • Category 5 Inspection includes a Category 4 Inspection and a PLC Proof Load Test.
  • Volant will provide all associated reports and certificates upon completion.
