Thermal Well Casing Connection Evaluation Protocol (TWCCEP) FEA Benchmarking Tool – Edition 1 – 2019-06-19

This Publicly Available Report Edition 1 of 2019-06-19 (PAR) contains guidelines for validating (benchmarking) finite-element analysis (FEA) conducted according to Thermal Well Casing Connection Evaluation Protocol (TWCCEP) ISO Publicly Available Specification (PAS) 12835 Edition of 2013-12-15. This FEA validation methodology is referenced as TWCCEP FEA Benchmarking Tool.

The TWCCEP FEA Benchmarking Tool was originally developed in a multi-client project (MCP) on TWCCEP Maintenance and Upgrades (TWCCEP Maintenance MCP) coordinated by Noetic Engineering 2008 Inc. (Noetic). The TWCCEP Maintenance MCP was funded by eight companies referenced as MCP Participants. Following completion of the TWCCEP Maintenance MCP, the MCP Participants agreed to make the TWCCEP FEA Benchmarking Tool publicly available.

Volant Expands Distribution with Texas International

Volant is pleased to announce they’ve expanded their reach with a new distributor. In November 2016 Texas International Oilfield Tools LTD (TI), a manufacturer and provider of Oilfield Equipment, and Volant Oil Tools Inc. (Volant), a manufacturer of casing running equipment, executed a distribution agreement. This agreement is aimed to increase the presence of Volant’s products locally and globally through Texas International’s presence.

Additional distribution through Texas International will allow more companies, current and new, access to Volant tools. TI can supply customers with all of Volant’s product offerings including CRTi™ internal and CRTe™ external grip casing running tools, HydroFORM™ Centralizers, DeltaTORQ™ and Multi-Lobed torque rings as well as Cement Swivel and Plug Launcher cementing equipment.

Texas International Oilfield Tools “has built a solid reputation in the industry for providing their customers with the proper equipment to accomplish their objectives” as described in the Second February 2017 issue of Tradequip Magazine. This partnership will help TI grow their equipment offering and provide more casing and liner equipment choices to get the job done.

Volant Unveils DeltaTORQ™ Rings

Archive News Post

The Volant Group of Companies (Volant) proudly announces the DeltaTORQ™ Ring (DTR™) – developed to provide additional torsion capacity in casing/tubing connections for the upstream market.  These new rings are designed to fit all standard API casing/tubing connections, providing a cost-effective, short-lead time semi-premium connection solution. The new DeltaTORQ™ Rings make optimal use of the available space in the connection J-section, providing more torque capacity and increasing retention.

“Volant has an extensive history producing torque rings and by capitalizing on this knowledge, we are excited to release DeltaTORQ™ Rings; allowing customers to once again do more with less ,” stated Dan Shute, President of Volant. “These rings increase the connection torsion capacity, enabling customers to rotate casing and ultimately run casing/liner strings to their target depth more efficiently.”

When utilized in tubing strings, the increased torsion capacity can eliminate the need of additional downhole hardware in applications running progressing cavity pumps. Additionally, the smoothed tubing string bore can increase production efficiency, reduce erosion in the J-section and mitigate thread damage during well servicing. Furthermore, by providing a positive torque shoulder, DeltaTORQ™ rings prevent pin over-penetration, increasing the service life of tubing strings.

DeltaTORQ™ Rings come in all standard sizes listed in API-5CT. The connections are gauged and the rings installed easily onsite, before or during running operations using a handheld installation tool. Alternatively, as DeltaTORQ™ Rings have sufficient retention load, they can also be installed prior to running operations in pipe yards and transported to site already installed in the connections.
